Terms & Conditions
The terms on which this website is made available, and how they sit alongside the terms of an actual engagement.
Last updated 1 September 2026
TODO(launch): this document is a drafting starting point, not a jurisdiction-specific legal notice. It must be reviewed and adapted by the firm before publication against the bar advertising rules, consumer legislation and contract law that actually apply.
01Acceptance of these terms
These terms govern your use of this website, operated by SALAW Associates LLP. By accessing or using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
These website terms are separate from, and subordinate to, the engagement letter and terms of business that govern any legal services we provide. Where the two conflict in relation to an engagement, the engagement letter prevails.
02No legal advice
Everything on this site is general information about the law and legal practice. It is not legal advice, it is not a substitute for advice on your own facts, and it may not reflect the position in your jurisdiction or the law as it currently stands.
Do not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of anything published here without taking advice from a qualified lawyer on your specific circumstances.
03No attorney–client relationship
Using this site, submitting the enquiry form, or sending us an email does not create an attorney–client relationship. That relationship begins only when we have completed a conflict check and both parties have signed an engagement letter.
Until that point, information you send us may not be treated as confidential in the way that client communications are, and we may already act for another party with an interest adverse to yours. Please send only a general description of your matter in a first enquiry.
04Permitted use
You may view, download and print pages from this site for your own reference. You may not:
- Republish, sell, sub-licence or commercially exploit material from this site.
- Reproduce or duplicate material other than for your own reference.
- Systematically extract content by automated means, including scraping and crawling other than by conventional search-engine indexing.
- Use the site in any way that damages it, impairs its availability, or is unlawful, fraudulent or harmful.
- Introduce malware or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its underlying systems.
05Intellectual property
All content on this site — text, layout, graphics, the firm name and the firm's marks — is owned by or licensed to SALAW Associates LLP and is protected by intellectual property law. Nothing on this site grants you a licence to use those marks.
06Third-party links
This site may link to third-party websites. Those links are provided for convenience. We do not control, endorse or accept responsibility for the content, accuracy or practices of any third-party site, and your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
07Availability and changes
We aim to keep the site available and its content current, but we give no undertaking that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or up to date at any given moment. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site, and may revise these terms, at any time. The version published on this page is the version that applies.
08Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, this website or its content — including indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, and loss of data.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability arising under our professional obligations to a client under an engagement.
09Complaints
If you are a client and wish to complain about our service, please write to counsel@salawassociates.com marked for the attention of the Managing Partner. We will acknowledge within three business days and respond substantively within twenty-one days. Our engagement terms set out the escalation route to the relevant professional body if you remain dissatisfied.
10Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of this site, are governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which the firm's principal office is situated, and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
Our terms of business are provided before any work begins.
You receive a written engagement letter setting out scope, basis of charge, rate and estimate before we start. Nothing is chargeable until you have it.
